Lee County Men's Leagues (50-Plus & 70-Plus)

Lee County Men’s 50-Plus (Standings are as of December 18, 2011. League play resumes on January 9, 2012)
In Blue A the Forest and Pelican Landing are nip and tuck for the first spot with 13 and 12 points respectively. Three teams are bunched relatively close together in third through fifth and are well within striking distance of the leaders.
Blue B is shaping up to be a very tight race with five teams separated by just three points. Leading the way are Pelican Landing and Kelly Greens with 11 points each, with Colonial one point back and Gulf Harbour just one point behind them. Lexington rounds out the top five teams in the division, only three points behind the leaders.
In Blue C the Landings, Dunes, and Cross Creek appear to be the early cream of the crop, running first, second and third respectively. Both the Landings and Dunes have played one more match than Cross Creek, so despite being three points behind the leader, they are right in the thick of things.
In Blue D, the Dunes, Plantation, and Heritage Palms have separated themselves a bit from the pack, sitting in first-through-third respectively. The Dunes has swept three of the four matches played, and appears to be the team to beat in this division.
In the League's top division, Red A, the Dunes leads by one point over Lighthouse Bay, and Park Meadow is in third, one point behind the top two. The Landings, in fourth, is a mere three points behind the first-place team, suggesting one heck of a battle down the stretch in the League's strongest division.
Dropping just three of 16 matches, Heritage Palms (HP) is shaping up as the dominant force in Red B. HP leads second-place Plantation by four points after four matches, and only third-place Lexington appears to still be in the hunt, five points off the leader’s pace.
Fort Myers Racquet Club and Lexington are in a dead heat for the top spot in Red C, both with 12-4 individual match records. Colonial is just one point behind the leaders, but took a 1-3 loss against FMRC in the first match of the season. It’s early in the season so we can’t count out the other five teams in the division, but it’s currently a three-team race.
In Red D, The Forest leads Fort Myers Racquet by one point and Park Meadow by two. These three are likely to be the class of this division, but there is plenty of tennis yet to be played in this division as well.
A four-horse race is taking shape in White A, with Gulf Harbour clinging to a very tenuous one-point lead over Fort Myers Racquet Club and Breckenridge, and just two points ahead of Kelly Greens. The lead truly is tenuous though, because Breckenridge has played one fewer matches than the others in this tight group, and has swept two of the three matches it has played, losing just one individual match in 10.
White B features Shadow Wood and Pelican Preserve atop the standings tied at 12 points apiece with the next two teams, Grandezza and Pelican Landing tied at nine points each. Unless the other teams bring in some reinforcements the Division Champ is likely to come from among these four.
In White C, The Vines and Colonial are tied at 12 and the Dunes is sitting at 11 points. Although the Legends is within reach with eight points, once again it appears that the cream is rising to the top, separating themselves from the pack.
Six of the eight teams in White D are still in the hunt during the early going, with just four points separating the top-six. Beachview and Cross Creek/Paseo lead the way with 11 points, with Cape Coral one point behind. Lexington, Heritage Cove, and Sanibel Harbour round out the top-six, with nine, eight, & seven points respectively
Lee County Men’s 70-Plus (Standings are as of December 18, 2011. League play resumes on January 4, 2012)
It’s early in the season for the super-seniors as well, with only two matches in the books. In the top division, Red, the Landings hold a one-point lead over Fort Myers Racquet, and lead Pelican Landing and Plantation by two.
In the White Division, Lexington leads FMRC by one point with Lighthouse Bay sitting in third with four points. Gulf Harbour holds the same lead over Kelly Greens in the Blue Division, with the Landings sitting in third, three points behind the second-place team.
Sanibel Harbour leads three teams by two points in the Green Division. Colonial, Legends, and Breckenridge are even in the chase to catch Sanibel Harbour.

Things are sure to get more interesting as teams get more matches under their belts, so stay tuned. Game, set, match....T A
