Synopsis of Events from Wednesday, December 12th, 2012
When we put our minds to it, our little group of 100 ladies
can move mountains. I am so proud to be
a part of this wonderful organization.
During the very busy holiday season our league came together and held a
spectacular tennis event. If you were
not able to attend, here is what you missed:
1. Diane Geater orchestrated a wonderful Round Robin with two hours of tennis. Thirty
two ladies enjoyed playing doubles and
triples! If you haven’t played triples
before it is exciting. There are players
at the net, players at the baseline, players everywhere. The action is fast and it is nearly
impossible to put the ball away. The
biggest challenge is to figure out who should be returning serve!
2. Attendees enjoyed a Delicious Lunch including sandwich wraps, Caesar salad, hors de’
vors, drinks and desserts.

3. A Showcase
Raffle occurred for a chance to win a weekend at South Seas Resort on Captiva
Island. All 200 tickets were sold prior
to the day of the event, raising over $800 for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Congratulations Judy Schafft!
4. A Silent
Auction was held with fabulous raffle baskets, tennis and golf
certificates, jewelry, luggage, and more.
The forty ladies in attendance bid on the prizes, raising over $1,000
for the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
5. Several fun prizes were raffled off during our Raffle which included gift certificates
from a hair salon and nail salon, t-shirts, tumblers and more. Proceeds from this event were over $200.

6. And finally our collection of Gift Cards totaled
$1,000 for the Salvation Army Toys for
Tots Drive!
All of our success would not have been possible without the
effort of our dedicated Board: Karen Fiorillo, Rena Gezzar, and Kathy
Shimp. I would like to offer a big thank
you to Rena for organizing the event, updating the website, coordinating the
Showcase Raffle and Silent Auction Baskets.
Thank you to Karen for obtaining the venue, coordinating the menu for
the day, and managing to get excellent discounts and donations. Thank you to Kathy for running the Raffle and
managing all of the finances.
Other SCAT members pitched in too and the event would not
have been the same without their help.
Thank you to Diane Geater for running the Round Robin and helping Kathy
with the Raffle. Thank you to Regina
Stenger and Debbie Naumann for their help with the Silent Auction Raffle
Baskets. Thanks to Kim Stancil for
providing the drinks. Thanks to Park
Meadow Tennis Shop for collecting all of the donations. And to all of you who attended the event,
made a donation, purchased a raffle ticket, or bid on a basket – Thank you!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,
Sandy Miller
SCAT President
