Dear Members:
|
This season, Steve Aldrich and I worked hard to make the
courts as playable as possible, and they were in the best shape they have been
in for some time. I’m sad to report that Steve has suffered a challenging
injury that required surgery and will keep him out of action for some time. Steve projects his return to the court to be about six months. We hope he will be able to
join us at the beginning of next season.
New Developments
We are in the process of defining a new relationship with
The Hideaway Country Club that will offer our members the opportunity to play team
matches and have team clinics on The Hideaway courts, to play golf at The
Hideaway, and to take advantage of The Hideaway restaurant. We will post the
details once they have been finalized. As it stands now, T. A. Niles will be
our point person and contact at the Hideaway.
Fact versus Fiction
I have heard from concerned members that there is a rumor
circulating that the LCWTL will not allow our teams in the league next year. I
am not sure where that rumor came from, but according to my inquiries to the
LWCTL, there is no fact to that particular fiction. We will continue to work on
improving our court surfaces and we look forward to a successful 2012 – 2013 LCWTL
season.
Our Teams
Our LCWTL teams had a fair showing, with our 4.0-Minus team
taking first place, our Dynamo teams finishing second (GGs) and third (Tennis Junkies)
in their division, and our Platinum Serves Aces team taking second. Two of our Lee
County Men’s 50-Plus teams had nice showings as well, with our Red A and Red D
teams finishing third in their divisions. In SCAT competition, Park Meadow
Diane ran away with the competition, claiming first place by nine points.
